Participants in the SNOMED CT Authoring Level 1 course will have the opportunity to practice their new authoring skills using a training version of SNOMED International's Managed Service authoring platform. This authoring platform has the same functionality as SNOMED International's Managed Service, which has been designed to support a live authoring environment. However, when used in a training environment some of the features provided may negatively impact your work, or the work of other participants. For this reason, participants are required to read and confirm their willingness to abide by the Authoring Platform Terms of Usage prior to being given access to the SNOMED CT authoring platform. The Authoring Platform Terms of Usage (set out below) will be reviewed during the Module A webinar, and students will be given the opportunity to ask questions prior to accepting the agreement.
Please note that where a participant does not abide by the Authoring Platform Terms of Usage, access to the Authoring Platform may be revoked. If this occurs, the participant will be immediately withdrawn from the course.
The Authoring Platform Terms of Usage consist of two main conditions:
LEFT MENU BAR
The image below shows the left menu bar in the Authoring Platform, with prohibited functions marked in red.
The prohibited functions on the left menu bar are:
TASK NAVIGATION BAR
The image below shows the task navigation bar in the Authoring Platform, with prohibited functions marked in red.
The prohibited functions for tasks are listed in the table below, together with the rationale for this restriction.
This function is rarely used at a task level and detailed information is not included in the Level 1 course. This function may take a few minutes to run and will delay your work.
Not permitted (unless requested in writing by a tutor)
Submitting a task for review will enable other participants to see your task. You should only use this function if explicitly requested to do so by a course tutor.
Use of this function is NOT permitted as promoting a task will change the content at a project level. This will have a negative impact other participants. Use of this function will result in loss of access to the Platform which will prevent your completion of the course.
You must not use this function unless explicitly requested by a tutor, as this may impact your work. This icon appears in yellow when there are content changes in the project that are not included in the task. This icon will also appear on the My Tasks dashboard when the task's content differs from the project's content.
I hereby confirm that I have read the Terms of Usage for the SNOMED CT Authoring Training Platform. I acknowledge that access is provided on the understanding that these Terms of Usage are complied with and that access may be revoked if I do not abide by these terms. I am aware that revocation of access will result in non-completion of the course.
